Day in and day out women pass up the weights and go straight to the cardio equipment. Weight training is so beneficial to women, yet the myths are clouding women’s minds.

MYTH 1

“Lifting weights will make me bulky”

MYTH 1 - BUSTED

Females physically do not produce enough testosterone to gain “bulky” muscle mass. Weight training will boost metabolism and aid in burning calories even after you’re done working out! It also helps tone your body and burn fat – ultimately making you “smaller”.

MYTH 2

“Lifting weights is for guys…I wouldn’t know what to do anyway”

MYTH 2 - BUSTED

Weight training is extremely beneficial to women and has many health benefits. Just to name a few…increasing lean muscle mass will increase bone density, burn calories more efficiently, and reduce chronic conditions like diabetes, obesity, and depression. This list goes on and on. Don’t know where to start? Just 3 sessions with a personal trainer will equip you with the knowledge you need for successful weight training.

MYTH 3

“I just want to tone certain areas of my body”

MYTH 3 - BUSTED

Although it is beneficial to work individual muscle groups, it is more effective to do more compound exercises that target a large group of muscles. Multi-joint movements (squats and lunges) will help burn more calories than single-joint movements (leg extension, inner/outer thigh). Plus, by targeting more muscles at once gets you through your workout faster!

Hit the weights ladies!!
